Frequently Asked Questions

How do I run a speed test?

Go to the Tests tab, tap "Speed Test", then tap "Start Test". The app will measure your download speed, upload speed, ping, and jitter. Results are saved automatically to your history.

How do I add a monitor?

Go to the Monitors tab, tap the + button, enter your monitor details (name, target URL or IP, type), and tap Save. You can then manually check it or let it run automatically based on the interval you set.

How do I add the widget to my home screen?

Long press on your home screen, tap the + button in the top left, search for "Netfly", select the widget size you want (Small, Medium, or Large), and tap "Add Widget". The widget updates automatically every 5 minutes.

Why isn't my widget showing data?

Make sure you've run at least one speed test and added at least one monitor in the app. The widget needs data to display. If you've done this and it's still not showing, try removing and re-adding the widget.

What's the difference between monitor types?

HTTP: Checks if a website is accessible and measures response time.
Ping: Tests if a server is reachable using ICMP ping.
DNS: Checks if a DNS server is responding to queries.

How accurate are the speed tests?

Speed tests are estimates and can vary based on network conditions, server load, and other factors. For best results, run multiple tests at different times and look at the average.

Does Netfly use my data?

Yes, running tests uses your cellular data or WiFi. Speed tests in particular can use significant data. We recommend running tests on WiFi when possible.

Is my data private?

Absolutely! All tests run locally on your device. We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your data to external servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I export my test history?

Yes! Go to the History tab, tap the export button, and you can export your test results as a CSV file for analysis in other tools.

How do I delete a monitor?

In the Monitors tab, swipe left on the monitor you want to delete, or tap the monitor to open details and tap the delete button.

What does the stability rating mean?

Excellent: 0% packet loss, jitter < 5ms
Good: < 1% packet loss, jitter < 10ms
Fair: < 3% packet loss, jitter < 20ms
Poor: Higher packet loss or jitter

Can I monitor private/internal servers?

Yes! You can monitor any server or website that your device can reach, including internal network resources when connected to your local network or VPN.

Troubleshooting

Speed test fails or times out

Check your internet connection. If you're on cellular, make sure you have a strong signal. Try switching between WiFi and cellular. If the problem persists, try restarting the app.

Monitor shows "Down" but site is accessible

The site might be blocking automated requests, or there could be a temporary network issue. Try increasing the timeout setting for that monitor. Some sites block ping requests, so try using HTTP monitoring instead.

App crashes or freezes

Try force-closing the app and reopening it. If the problem continues, try restarting your device. Make sure you're running the latest version of iOS and the app.

Widget not updating

Widgets update every 5 minutes automatically. If yours isn't updating, try removing and re-adding the widget. Make sure the app has run at least once since adding the widget.
